 CAMP GAN ISRAEL OF ROSLYN

COVID-19 SAFETY INFORMATION

SUMMER 2020

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce that CAMP GAN ISRAEL OF ROSLYN WILL BE OPEN FOR SUMMER 2020! We all know how important camp is for our children in a regular year, but that need has only increased after so many weeks of uncertainty and isolation.

Camp this year may look and feel different from the CGI experience of years past, but rest assured it will include the same signature Gan Israel excitement, fun, staff & friends.

Safety First! While we are excited to offer camp, we continue to place safety as our primary concern. Please read these guidelines carefully to familiarize yourself with our safety protocols.

This information is accurate as of the time of this writing but will be continuously updated and revised as the laws, guidelines and situation changes.

This plan has been designed following the guidelines from the ACA (American Camp Association), CDC, County & State Health Departments, and has been reviewed and approved by camping & health professionals.

DATES & TIMES: In order to comply with the many new safety regulations and standards, camp will run for 6 weeks, July 6 to August 14, hours are 9:30 to 3:00.

PROGRAMS: We have full camp for Nursery through 7th grade. Details of the 7-10th CIT teen program and overnight travel trips are not yet determined.

GROUPINGS: Camper groups will be organized as smaller, self-contained “families” or “cohorts”, which will not interact or mix with other groups throughout the day.

Due to a decrease in allowed capacity, there will be limited spots available.

HYGIENE: Campers will be reminded to stay extra careful with hand washing, using sanitizer and other important hygienic guidelines at all times.

All campers and staff will wash/sanitize their hands upon arrival, between activities, after the washroom, and before and after eating.

Groups will each have a dedicated supply box to minimize shared supplies and direct contact. Any shared equipment will be sanitized between uses.

Common touch areas such as door handles, sinks and bathrooms will be frequently sanitized throughout the day.

OUTDOORS: Campers will be outdoors or in tents as much as possible with limited time spent indoors. All indoor areas will be well ventilated at all times.

FACE COVERINGS & SOCIAL DISTANCE: Staff are required to wear a face covering. Campers may, but are not required to wear masks. Each group/cohort will maintain social distancing from other groups. Sports and activities will be played by each group on its own.

SYMPTOMS: Any camper or staff member who experiences fever, vomiting, cough, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell or other symptoms typical of Covid-19 must stay home and not come to camp until tested and cleared by the camp and the Health Department.

Any camper or staff member who displays a temperature above 100.4, or other symptoms during the camp day, will be isolated from the rest of camp and sent home.

In the event that a camper or staff member tests positive for the virus, they, and possibly also their group, will be required to quarantine as per CDC regulations.

SCREENING: Parents are requested to check their children’s temperature before arriving at camp each morning. Additionally, all campers and staff will be temperature checked with a contact-less thermal thermometer, and asked an oral health screening, upon arrival each morning.

TRANSPORTATION / DROP-OFF / PICK-UP: Due to the increased complexity of maintaining health safety on buses, there will most likely NOT be bus transportation offered this summer. If the ONLY way you can send your child to camp is by bus, let us know and we’ll see if something can be done.

LUNCH: Kosher hot lunches will be provided as usual by Elite Pizza. Lunches and snacks will be served as individual portions to each camper, rather than 'family style'. Groups will sit socially distanced from other groups with ample space between.

TRIPS: As per current Health Department recommendations, there will not be any field trips going off of camp grounds. Instead, “trips” will be brought on-site and done individually by each group/cohort. Including- a mobile roller skating rink, Gametruck outdoor mobile video game theater, Laser Tag, and more. Things may change as regulations evolve and the summer progresses.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES: To compensate for the lack of trips, there will many more professional instructors, special activities, and entertainers brought on site, such as Archery, Zumba, Krav Maga, Robotics, Drone Flying, and lots more.

SPORTS: Campers will focus more on skill building and non high-contact sports, to reduce risk. Regular Sports Academy with professional coaches will be offered as usual.

SWIMMING: Swimming remains to be determined. Until swimming can be safely implemented there will be other fun water play on site.

VISITING: Visiting of any kind will not be allowed while camp is in session. Safety protocols will be in place for all deliveries and repairmen who must enter the camp.

TESTING: All staff will be required to be tested for Covid-19 prior to camp starting. We highly encourage campers to do the same.

RAINY DAY PROTOCOL: There are 3 Rainy Days built into our schedule. These will act the same way Snow Days do during the school year, that camp will be cancelled that day if a safe program will not be able to be provided. We will notify you by 7:00 AM that morning if camp is canceled. Any more than 3 cancellations will be refunded.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS: We understand if the current style of camp may not work for you. As such, the following cancellation policy is offered:

* Until June 22: Full refund available for any reason, no extra fees.

* After June 22: Full refund minus $200 deposit, until 7 days before session start date.

* No refunds available from 7 days before session start date.

In case Camp Gan Israel will be forced to cancel or temporarily close a program or groups due to a Covid-19 infection, Camp will offer a full refund for unused days (prorated) to all those campers affected. Only those campers (and siblings) who are directly affected by the closure will be offered a refund.

We look forward to providing your children with an awesome, fun and safe summer! Space is limited, so CLICK HERE to sign up!
